ITINERARY:
1st Day: STRASBOURG – PASSAU
Boarding at 16h in Passau. Settling into your cabin. Presentation of the
crew. At around 17h, departure of the cruise for the Austro-German border in the
beautiful region of Engelhartszell. Welcome cocktail. Dinner, evening on board.
2nd Day: PASSAU – VIENNA
Breakfast on board. Disembarkation at 8h for the optional visit to the Abbey
of Melk. Atop a rocky outcrop which overlooks the Danube from a height of more
than 50 m, it is the symbol of the most complete expression of Baroque Art in
Austria. Back on board around 11h. Departure of the boat for Durnstein. Arrival
around 12h30. After lunch, free time to explore this picturesque village.
Durnstein, the most famous town in the Wachau, is swathed in the legend of King
Richard the Lionheart and has a church in the Baroque style. Back on board by
15h30 and departure of the boat for the cruise to Vienna. Dinner on board.
Arrival in Vienna around 20h30. Disembarkation and optional tour of Vienna by
night. Overnight stopover.
3rd Day: VIENNA – BUDAPEST
After breakfast, departure for the optional tour of Schönbrunn Castle and
Vienna. This castle, beautifully set off by the perspectives of its park, was
the summer residence of the imperial family. Back on board. Lunch. In the
afternoon, free time or explore this majestic city at your own pace. Back on
board around 19h. Departure of the boat for Budapest. Passing by Bratislava.
Dinner and gala evening.
4th Day: BUDAPEST
Breakfast on board and free time to explore Esztergom, the first capital of
Hungary, in the time of the Arpad kings. The town retains a certain measure of
importance. It is the seat of the Primate of Hungary. The neoclassical basilica
and the ancient royal palace make Esztergom a city rich in monuments. Departure
of the boat around 12h. Lunch on board. Arrival in Budapest around 16h. Also
nicknamed the "Pearl of the Danube" and capital of Hungary, Budapest is a
harmonious and picturesque city spanning the Danube. Free time. Dinner on board.
Optional tour of Budapest by night.
5th Day: BUDAPEST
Breakfast on board. Free day in Budapest or optional guided tour of Budapest,
the belle époque city par excellence, the incarnation of the sharp contrast
between twin cities divided by the Danube and united since 1872. You will
discover: haughty Buda with its winding streets, it Baroque palaces, its Turkish
bath establishments and its royal palace from the Middle Ages; and bustling
Pest, which offers a proud mixture of architectural styles. Back to the boat for
lunch. Free afternoon. Explore the unquestioned marvels of the city at your own
pace. After dinner, free evening or optional traditional evening in Budapest.
6th Day: BUDAPEST
Breakfast on board. End of our journey.
